Ernest Marples (left), Britain's Transport Minister, shakes hands with Marc Jacquet, his French " opposite number " at Dover Castle, Kent, where they met to study progress reports on the Channel Tunnel Geological Survey. Later, the two Ministers were to embark on a french ship for a trip to mid-Channel to see the first boring made.
