The Prince of Wales, on his 54th birthday, rides on an electrically-powered Segway during a visit to a vocational careers' fair in Salford, Greater Manchester. *...The invention, which looks like an electric scooter, uses a high-tech system of gyroscopes to detect the user's natural sense of balance to steer it. The electrically powered Segway was developed with the help of British firm BAE Systems in an attempt to make getting around urban areas quicker and easier. The invention was being showcased at SkillCity, a joint venture between the Prince's Trust and charity UK Skills aiming to enthuse young people about crafts and skilled work.
