ustrial liaison, the C.C.F. and a variety of clubs and societies. In particular Drama has been given a great boost with the advent of the facilities of the new Theatre, and regularly fine productions have been performed under the direction of enthusiastic members of staff. Likewise Music has attained a very high standing owing to the skill and organisation of two successive distinguished Directors of Music. Many concerts have been given in the Memorial Hall, and choir tours to a number of overseas venues have been features of Merchiston in the 1990s. A very successful joint venture with the local community was the setting up of the Merchiston and Colinton Choir in 1997. David Spawforth retired in 1998. His successor is Mr. Andrew Hunter, formerly a Housemaster at Bradfield College.
