Harold Wilson (then Prime Minister) with Richard Nixon (then US President) during their talks at Chequers, Buckinghamshire, soon after Nixon's arrival in Britain on his European tour.
I was a 21year old Metropolitan Police Constable standing in the protective corden the night President Richard Milhouse Nixon arrived at 10,Downing Street.Downing street was open to the public, not barriered off as it is now with police men with sub-machine guns and bomb detectors .I was so close to President Nixon that night I could have picked his pocket. His face was distinctly orange, for the media ,cameras and perhaps the ' folks back home'.Pre-Watergate just another honest Joe.
