Coronation Street's Percy Sugden, played by Bill Waddington, takes a bite from a lifelike bust of himself - made from chocolate. Wallace and Gromit creators Aardman Animations have created an entire chocolate sequence for the programme's credits, featuring Coronation Street as the centrepiece, in a new deal as chocolate manufacturers Cadbury and the popular British soap join forces in the UK's biggest ever broadcast sponsorship, which will be witnessed by over 18 million UK households, at 7.30pm on Friday, September 6, 1996. * 09/09/2000 Mr Waddington has died, a Granada TV spokesman said. Mr Waddington, who was 84, died at Rotherham Hospital, South Yorkshire, after an illness.
