Bristol City v Rovers/riot 1996

Ugly crowd scenes marred the Bristol derby after Rovers had grabbed a last gasp equaliser. When Peter Beadle lunged to convert Jamie Cureton's injury time cross, ecstatic Rovers fans spilled onto the Ashton Gate pitch to celebrate. That sparked an angry reaction from home supporters and the game was held up for five minutes while mounted police cleared the pitch. After the final minute of the game had been completed Rovers players had to race for the dressing room pursued by a mob of City fans. See PA Story SOCCER Bristol.
