The top of the fire-damaged escalators at King's Cross underground station in London. The fire, which killed 31 people, is believed to have been started on the main escalator up from the platforms when a lit match was dropped by a passenger.

My mum's friend and neighbour was killed in this. We went to her funeral. We will never forget. It saddens me today.

I was passing through London that day and actually used those escalators I can still remember a guy working on one as I got to the bottom. I was horrified to learn of the fire shortly afterwards. Lucky escape !
